Piazza del Duomo is the nerve centre of Florence, from here you can see the monuments that have made the history of the Tuscan capital and the Italian Renaissance.
The appearance of the square is designed to give uniformity and enhance the monuments present: the Baptistery of San Giovanni, the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and Giotto’s Bell Tower.
The restoration work by Vivenda involved the façades of the building in Piazza del Duomo.
Significant degradation has occurred, to the extent that 25% of the area has been subject to demolition and reconstruction.
All the architectural elements in the damaged portion were restored and then smoothed and painted.
The restoration operation also involved cleaning oxidation and removing layers of various microorganisms from the stone surfaces and architectural elements. The roof tiles were replaced and restored.
The result has given the entire building a new splendour.
