Gianni Berengo Gardin’s eye on Venice on show at MAXXI

9 May 2022

From 4 May to 18 September, the National Museum of 21st Century Arts (MAXXI) is hosting the exhibition L’occhio come mestiere’ (The eye as a craft) by Gianni Berengo Gardin, considered the Italian master of black and white reportage.

More than 200 works on display tell the story of the relationship between the photographer and his Venice, a unique visual heritage of Italy from the post-war period to the present day that opens with images of outings to the waterfront in the 1950s and ends with the large ships arriving in the Lagoon before the pandemic.

Vivenda, as the exhibition’s media partner, made its LED spaces available in some of Rome’s busiest and most attractive spots. Vivenda’s partners were able to attend a preview of the exhibition on 3 May for a selected audience.
